Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man suspected of trying to rob two men and then shooting one of them in Coachella in August.

Thermal resident Daniel Avila, 25, was taken into custody at 1 p.m. today, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

He is accused of trying to rob two men at gunpoint in the area of Heather and Shady lanes in Coachella on Aug. 29.

The suspect hit one of the victims with a gun before shooting him, according to the sheriff's department.

He fled in a Chevrolet Tahoe that was driven by an unidentified person.
