Church offers western Halloween alternative

The Family Heritage Church is offering a “safe Halloween alternative” called “Heritage Round-Up.”


The western-themed event is scheduled from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

The free event is expected to feature a mechanical bull, games and candy.

There will be no scary costumes or masks, organizers said.

The Family Heritage Church is at 78-998 Miles Ave.

Learn first aid, CPR for your dog

A Dog First Aid and CPR class is set for 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. today at the Emergency Operations Center at the La Quinta Civic Center, 78-495 Calle Tampico.

The event is an Animal Samaritans Pet Wellness Seminar and will be a hands-on course to teach attendees how to deal with emergency situations such as choking, heat stroke and snakebites.

Cost is $40. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Halloween Carnival features games, prizes

The city of La Quinta and the President Gerald R. Ford Boys & Girls Club of La Quinta are partnering to present the annual Halloween Carnival at 3 p.m. Friday at the club, 49-995 Park Ave.

The free event will feature games, candy and prizes.
