Desert Hot Springs Police arrested today a target previously sought in the massive multi-law enforcement agency "Operation Falling Sun" crime sweep through the city last March.
Desert Hot Springs resident Christian Lopez, 23, was arrested shortly after 1 p.m. at the 13-300 block of West Drive on suspicion of selling controlled substances, according to a police department press release.
"He was one of our street drug dealers," Sgt. Dan Bressler said. Lopez, also known as "Beaver" according to the release, is believed to be associated with the city's West Drive Locos street gang, Bressler said.
Lopez fled the state prior to the attempt to arrest during Falling Sun, the release stated. However, Desert Hot Springs foot-patrol Officer Mike Chilner recently received a tip on where Lopez could be found, Bressler said.
Officers then moved in and made the arrest without incident at Lopez' mother's home on West Drive, according to the release.
Lopez will be transported and booked into Riverside County Jail, and his bail is set at $1 million, according to the release.
