Desert Christian opponent withdraws from football playoffs

Staff reports • November 10, 2009

Desert Christian of Bermuda Dunes will advance to the second round of the CIF-Southern Section Division II 8-man football playoffs because its first-round opponent has withdrawn from the post-season.

Lee Vining High School, located in central California near the Nevada border, withdrew from the playoffs because the school will not be able to field a full complement of players, a release from the CIF-Southern Section stated. Lee Vining was an at-large representivie from the Hi-Lo League.

Desert Christian, the No. 2 seed in the Division II bracket, moves into the second round because the CIF was not able to fill Lee Vining's spot in the bracket on such short notice.

Desert Christian, champions of the Victory League, was to host Friday's game against Lee Vining. In the second round on Nov. 20 Desert Christian will face the winner of the first-round game between Price of High School of Los Angeles and First Luthern high School of Sylmar.
