State Sen. John Benoit, R-Bermuda Dunes, will be the keynote speaker today at the Golf and Water Symposium in Palm Desert.

"Having contributed to the state's most significant water negotiations in decades, I look forward to discussing my perspective and water's impact on our economy," Benoit said.

Benoit is set to speak at 8 a.m. at the symposium, which will be held at the UCR Palm Desert Graduate Center, 75-080 Frank Sinatra Drive.

The symposium is co-sponsored by the Coachella Valley Water District, the California State Club Association and the California Alliance for Golf.

Benoit represents the 37th Senate District, which includes Banning, Beaumont, La Quinta, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, and Woodcrest.
