The Palm Springs Police Department will provide free memory checks Tuesday as it marks National Memory Screening Day.
The screenings will be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the police department's training center, 200 S. Civic Drive.
The Alzheimer's Foundation of America, which created the annual screening day, said a screening is an important first step toward determining if someone has a memory problem, but a screening does not by itself result in a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or any other condition.
The police department said its screenings would be free and confidential. Information about Alzheimer's disease, aging and Project Lifesaver will also be available Tuesday.
