A recent Gallup poll survey revealed that 75 percent of people in both Britain and Canada were satisfied with their health care. Only 45 percent of Americans said they were satisfied with theirs.
I lived in Britain for more than 30 years. I never paid a bill and the quality of care was excellent. Everyone is covered, health care is not tied to one's job, and no one there goes bankrupt because of a medical emergency. The tales of “rationing” of health care there are hugely exaggerated, and only apply to non-emergency care. Rationing is already far worse here in the U.S.A., where it is based on one's ability to pay.
The World Health Organization ranks America as 37th in its delivery of health care to its people. If Rep. Mary Bono Mack really believes “our nation's health care is the best in the world,” then she is either delusional or most likely serving a Republican agenda that simply wants President Obama to fail, in whatever he does.
