DESERT HOT SPRINGS — In the De Anza League opener for both teams, Desert Hot Springs beat Yucca Valley 3-2.

The Golden Eagles won 25-21, 20-25, 20-25, 25-17, 16-14.

Courtney Rogers led the Golden Eagles with 11 kills, three blocks and five digs, Leanne Wendelborn had 28 digs and two aces, Mariela Ortega finished with 16 digs, one ace and six kills and Bella Uribe added five kills and three blocks.

Desert Hot Springs (6-1, 1-0) faces Big Bear on Monday.

Xavier Prep 3, Marywood-Palm Valley 0: The Saints were victorious at home, 25-20, 25-21, 25-13.

For the Saints, Jessica Bolanos had 17 assists, Zoe Kurupas had five kills and Brittney Overgaag added five digs and six aces.

Xavier Prep (5-2) hosts River Springs on Monday.
