Investigators today arrested a Palm Desert man on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle following a foot pursuit through a Palm Desert neighborhood.

A sheriff's deputy tried to detain Jerry Lee Hines, 45, about 3:30 p.m. in the area of Elkhorn Trail and Indiana Avenue in Palm Desert Country Club after the official noticed the suspect was driving a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Palm Springs on Sept. 23, Riverside County Sheriff's Department Herlinda Valenzuela said.
The suspect ran from the deputy and was located about 20 minutes later, Valenzuela said.
Hines was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio on charges of possessing stolen property and parole violation.
The sheriff's department is working with the Palm Springs Police Department on that incident.
