About 200 of the nation's most purr-fect pets were in the Coachella Valley Saturday and Sunday to determine which felines are the best of the best.

Cats and kittens from around the country participated in Cat Fanciers' Association cat shows at the Palm Springs Leisure Center.
The Southern California-based Golden West and Valley Empire cat clubs each held a show featuring six rings and six judges, who awarded prizes in four categories.
“They're both this weekend because with the cost of traveling, you can accomplish more with one tank of gas,” show manager Charles Ober said. “You get more bang for your buck.”
Mary Ann Sweeters and her three cats drove from Louisiana to participate.
Her pets placed high in several categories, including first place in one of Sunday's six competitions for best kitten.
That award went to Sweeters' 5-month-old Chartreux, Dior.
“He loves the show. His first show (in August), he was nervous,” she said.
Other categories were for best whole cat, which includes adult cats that are not spayed or neutered, best premier cat, which features neutered pets, and best household cat.
