The businesswoman who brought CopyKatz to Palm Springs plans to open a new celebrity impersonator show at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa on Nov. 20.

The new CopyKatz Celebrity Revue will be set in the VIBE Nightclub and will feature a new show with a new cast, said CopyKatz producer Elyse Del Francia.
“Morongo Casino Resort & Spa is an ideal location for this type of show,” Del Francia said. “The VIBE Nightclub is a fantastic venue with comfortable seating and an intimate atmosphere that lends itself to a celebrity show.”
The new lineup offers a cast of impersonators or tribute artists who include Miss Julie Meyer performing as Stevie Nicks, Kristin Carson as Britney Spears, Dee Mask as Whitney Houston, Rebecca Clark as Barbara Streisand and Marlon performing as Elvis.
Las Vegas icon Kenny Kerr, who was once affiliated with the show “Make BOYlieve'' when it was showcased at Fantasy Springs Resort & Spa in Indio years ago, will be the show's emcee.
“This type of variety show has been very popular in other casino resorts and we want to give our guests a choice of entertainment types,” John Momaney, Morongo marketing director, said in a statement. “It is our intention to continue the celebrity shows based on the receptivity of our casino patrons.”
Del Francia, who shuttered the CopyKatz Showroom in downtown Palm Springs in late September without warning, said she views the show as a fresh beginning.
For months, Del Francia spoke of the hardships involved in doing business in the city, and in a high-rent property. The closure came on the heels of a court-ordered judgment for back rent sought by landlords of the former Atlas Club in downtown Palm Springs. At the time, Del Francia said she was about $24,000 behind on rent and fees.
“As soon as this happened, I started calling all the casinos,'' Del Francia said, and Morongo's new director of marketing invited her over. “They loved the show, and said, ‘Come on board.'”
Terms were not disclosed.
Del Francia, however, said the “live singing” show is open-ended.
The last casino show at Fantasy Springs, “Make BOYlieve,” began with a two-week contract.
“It ended up performing there for six months,'' she said. “If this works, and I believe it will because it's such a great location, I'm sure it will go on for quite awhile.”
Show times are 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There will be a 2 p.m. Sunday brunch matinee, costing $35. Tickets cost $29. Dinner packages are also available, Del Francia said.
