Kevin Wong, photographer and painter, has a cool line of “desert-inspired” holiday cards that are his joyful, heartfelt project.

“This tradition of creating a personal card comes from my parents, who are both artists living in Berkeley,” he said.
Kevin now lives in Joshua Tree, where he finds inspiration all over.
One favorite is the nighttime view of a Joshua Tree with a full moon below an outstretched branch titled “Hanging an Ornament on the Joshua Tree.” A whimsical card is called “Lighting the Traditional Holiday Boot.”
Besides cards, he has photos of desert landscapes and has recently incorporated Asian themes into the landscapes and wildflower blooms. You can order cards or find his other work at dryheatstudio .com.
Pure energy work
What happens when a recent transplant from Miami washes up on our dunes? He looks for work, or, in this economy, he chooses to pursue his passion.
For Craig, it's called Breathwork, an amazing experience for people looking to relax and decompress. It's pure energy work and really popular with those who have experienced it.
It's available now at Two Bunch Palms and other locations soon. For information, visit connectthebreath.com.
Picture perfect
Inspired by the '60s, local resident Roccie Hill's debut novel, “Three Minutes on Love,” is now available at Just Fabulous in downtown Palm Springs. This new author will be signing copies from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Celebrity photographer Michael Childers says in a review on Amazon that it is “a wonderful flashback to the flower power and rock 'n' roll images of the San Francisco music scene in the '60s — a time when many up and coming photographers became an integral part of the families of these rock performers.”
