The Palm Springs Planning Commission had such a short meeting Wednesday that one member couldn't help but to make a joke about the time.

“Could we make these meetings any faster?” Commissioner Jon Caffery asked when the group took its final vote 10 minutes into the meeting.
During the total 20-minute meeting, the group took the following actions:
A project called The Edge at Belardo was given a one-year time extension. The project, from Wessman Development Co., is approved to have 66 town homes on more than 6 acres. The vacant parcel is between 1501 and 1601 S. Belardo Road.
Five office buildings were approved on a 2.7-acre parcel on the northeast corner of Farrell Drive and Computer Way.
The application by J.H. Farrell Business Park LLC would include five single-story buildings consisting of general and medical offices.
The proposed draft Specific Plan for the Desert Fashion Plaza will be reviewed by the Planning Commission on Dec. 3.
The plan would allow up to 955 condos, 400,000 square feet of retail and office space and up to 620 hotel rooms where the Desert Fashion Plaza and Town & Country Center now sit.
Representatives of Wessman Development, the project developer, recently announced that they hope to proceed with a different plan that would renovate the existing mall and eliminate the residential component because the credit and housing markets aren't strong enough to sustain it.
