11:32 a.m.: Palm Desert police arrive on scene. The city of Palm Desert contracts for police services with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

1 to 1:30 p.m.: Investigators sequester witnesses in a nearby Pizza Hut and a mobile command center set up outside the store.

3 p.m.: First forensic team arrives on scene.

4:50 p.m.: Some witnesses are allowed to leave following questioning.

5 p.m.: Second forensic team arrives on scene.

7:15 p.m.: Authorities begin to clear the scene.

7:50 p.m.: A number of Toys R Us employees are allowed to leave Pizza Hut following questioning.

7:55 p.m.: Riverside County coroner's personnel inside the store prepare to move the bodies of the two dead men.

8 p.m.: The bodies were removed from the store.
