A man who days ago made a comment about causing another Toys R Us incident was detained and questioned Sunday by Riverside County Sheriff's deputies after he returned to the store where he made the comment.

The unnamed man had been inside Macy's about two days ago when he reportedly made the comment, said Riverside County Sheriff's spokeswoman Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela. Law enforcement was summoned, and he was made to leave, she said.

Sunday, security spotted the man back inside the store, she said. While he did not make any threatening statements, security summoned Palm Desert Police and the man was again detained, Valenzuela said.

While it was not known if he intended to become violent, Valenzuela said Macy's security team was concerned for the public's safety.

“You can't just walk in somewhere and say something like that,” Valenzuela said.

Two men died in during a Nov. 28 shooting at the Palm Desert Toys R Us store.
