Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack was traveling last night from Washington, D.C. when news broke that Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet may take a crack at running for her seat in 2010.
Bono Mack could not be reached last night, but responded very early this morning after her plane landed to an email query from a Desert Sun reporter.
Bono Mack wrote:
"I look forward to running an aggressive campaign against whoever my opponent may be. I have 11 years of a very solid record in a very large and diverse district and 24 years of history in Palm Springs. In the mean time, I will continue focusing on doing my job, fighting for the people of California's 45th district and let the campaign take shape at the appropriate time."
Pougnet has not returned calls and an e-mail for comment from The Desert Sun.
