Desert Hot Springs Councilwoman Jan Pye will serve as the city's liaison to the Desert Healthcare District.

On Tuesday, council voted to ratify Mayor Yvonne Parks' recommendation that Pye be appointed.

Pye, who previously served on the City Council from 1991 to 2001, was appointed again this past April.

She has also been a health care analyst for Desert Oasis Healthcare since 1999.

The district's mission is to promote health for its residents.

It budgets more than $3 million each year for grants and other programs.
