Nothing stops our fabulous community from dancing for their charities in this 8th season of “Dancing with OUR Stars”; the enormously popular hit fundraising event of the season that partners local professional dancers with our local leaders in the community for the charity of their choice.
Three tantalizing couples will be cutting up the dance floor for your votes at the Embassy Suites in La Quinta. Votes are $20 each and can be purchased in advance of the live competition to support your favorite participating charity.
Brand new this season is the “Friends Helping Friends” fund. We created this to help our friends and neighbors who are facing catastrophic bills as a result of circumstances beyond their control. At the moment, these donations will not be tax deductible but helping someone you may know far outweighs the tax deduction. A single mom struggling with surgery, chemotherapy, her bills and caring for her kids is this season's recipient.
Returning this season will be the amateur and Pro/Am couples competing for “Audience Choice” trophies. So if you didn't get a chance to sign up to raise money for a charity, you can still be a star for the evening. This night of enchantment is all about dancing.
Exhibition dances will be performed by Beyond the Beat and a special “Kidney Transplant Awareness” performance by Shea and Larry New.
And some surprise “Love Story” themed performances you don't want to miss.
The very personable and talented Sharon DiHaworth will be hosting this event to bring us the most entertaining evening yet. This member of the Divine Divas and a volunteer on the Muses/Patroness Circle board of the McCallum Theatre has many surprises up her sleeve, along with our D.J. John Buckner.
Event tickets for Dancing with Our Stars, Sunday, November 8th at 5 pm are $75/pp and includes dinner, dancing, one vote for the charity of your choice and of course, the exciting competition. Hosts will be on hand to dance with guests.
