The Riverside County library system recently upgraded Internet service at the La Quinta Public Library, city officials said.
The upgrade is expected to increase Internet speed from 3 megabytes of bandwidth to 30 megabytes of bandwidth.
In planning for the upgrade, staff suggested the county use an extra pair of fiber optic cables owned by the city that would run between City Hall and the library instead of trenching a new line and installing a new cable. The alternative saved about $50,000, city officials said.
The La Quinta Public Library is at 78-275 Calle Tampico.
