U.S. Army 1st Lt. Kevin Saboori, son of Karen Meehan and grandson of Irene and Jack Meehan, all of La Quinta, has completed his tour of Iraq as platoon leader at Forward Operating Base Bernstein.
Saboori's twin brother, Michael, is also a La Quinta resident.
Kevin Saboori, 24, a magna cum laude graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., recently returned to the 25th Infantry Division base in Honolulu.
“We're very glad to have him home,” Jack Meehan said.
Saboori's unit provided support for the Iraqi army and police as well as security for U.S. State Department personnel.
While overseas, he engaged in various engineering projects including building bridges.
Jack Meehan said his grandson gravitated to the military when he was a young boy. “We always knew he would be career military,” Meehan said. “Camouflage was his favorite color even as a little guy.”
