Led by Chris Stinney's fifth-place finish with a time of 16:50, the Xavier Prep High School boys' cross country team took second at the Christian League finals with 43 points.
Also for Xavier Prep, Tommy Paz finished sixth (16:51), Angel Medina took eighth (17:00), Vince Pacera was 11th (17:20) and Stephen Perez was 13th (17:33).
The girls' team finished fourth with 76 points, led by Karina Castaneda's first-place finish with a time of 18:44.
Also for the Saints, Meg Lizza finished seventh (20:40), Ashley Flood took 21st (23:35), Karissa Devries was 23rd (23:39) and Dre Lomax was 24th (23:57).
Both the boys' and girls' teams qualified for the CIF prelims at Mt. San Antonio College on Nov. 14.
Volleyball
Marywood-Palm Valley 3, Lake Arrowhead Christian 1: Kelsey Mezrahi had seven aces and nine assists to lead the Firebirds over Division 5A No. 1 Lake Arrowhead Christian. Corinne Hyams added six kills for Marywood-Palm Valley.
Women's soccer
COD 2, MT. SAN JACINTO 2: Despite taking an early lead on a goal by Brittany Russell, the Roadrunners settled for a tie on the road.
COD (0-8-1) hosts Rio Hondo College on Tuesday.
