When I relocated to Desert Hot Springs from Palm Desert five years ago, after visiting here for 18-plus years, I was confident it was ready to grow into a city that would join the valley and be the leader in many areas. I soon learned that was not going to happen for quite a while.

When Yvonne Parks was elected mayor two years ago, I could not see how she was going to pull the city together, because it was so far down. She surprised me with her knowledge to put the right council members in the right positions. She set herself a goal that seemed totally unrealistic and unattainable. Little by little, she and the council members, who she put in those positions for action, started pulling it all together.

Then Jan Pye was appointed to the council to become a functioning, balanced and hard-working council. Please keep our city functioning together and vote Mayor Yvonne Parks, Scott Matas and Jan Pye.
