A good sign for Mills

Readers • The Desert Sun • November 1, 2009

I'm tired of hearing the battle over signs in Palm Springs. The “business friendly” candidates say let everyone in the city disregard our sign ordinance. Manhattan's 50 percent-off sign is an “innovative” way to pick up business. That's not innovative, it's against the law.

Let's change the sign ordinance so every business in Palm Springs is on equal ground. Let every business put up a 50 percent-off banner in their windows. That will fix the economic crisis. If you don't have a successful business, it's because you don't have a big enough sign and Palm Springs is not “business friendly.” Do you really think they want us all to fail?

Now Chris Mills' signs are too big. He's sticking it to the downtown businesses. He can have a big sign and they can't. Actually he is allowed, by law, 16 square feet. Businesses in Palm Springs are allowed 25 square feet. Chris' signs are too big. But the businesses' signs are too small. Does this sound fair?

Let Mills' signs grow. We need someone to stick up for the law- abiding businesses in our city that aren't being “innovative.” Vote Chris Mills for fair and equal treatment.
