Work with Carden

Readers • The Desert Sun • November 1, 2009

Seems the new gang running for Palm Springs City Council — except maybe David Carden — think the solution to our problems is just throw another developer at it and it will all work out. Been there, done that! Tina Turner's song “We Don't Need Another Hero” comes to mind.

At the extreme end, you have Barbara Beaty who seems overly fond of singing praises to John Wessman. She ignores the importance of protecting our park and the YMCA. I guess that makes her family-friendly.

We also have a problem with deadbeat landlords who are asking outrageous lease costs. They are more than comfortable sitting on empty spaces and writing them off as a tax loss, to the harm of all of us. Would Palm Springs have to be a ghost town before they wake up? Or is it that as long as they are making out all right? That's all that counts? Where's the altruism?

It's time for bringing something to the table and not just having a one-way street of profits for a tightfisted few. I'll roll up my sleeves, and get down to earth and down to work with David Carden.
