Palm Springs Holiday Banner Program Names Finalists

Nearly 600 Palm Springs students from Kindergarten to 12th grade have submitted drawings hoping to be among those chosen to have their artwork become one of the hand painted holiday banners that line Palm Canyon Drive during the winter holiday season according to Main Street Palm Springs President Joy Meredith.

This year's Palm Springs artist finalists are: Catherine Ovalle, Shawn Moore, Veronica Garcia, Akerzal Cuzteta, Chynna Smith, Natasha Niethamer, Andrea Abbas, Christina Redfern, Karen Pardo, Sergio Valdez, Allison Crocker, Jill Frinter, Samantha Tipton, Juan Gonzalez, Lizbeth Quezada, Kristina Brandes, Brandon Road, Emily Myers, Bry Marino, Julio Arevalo, Kira Sifflect, Payton Thomas, Isabella Dodd, Francesca Caparas, Mara Sabio, Isabella Castrodale, Tala Zoukari, Sarah Rolak, Sophia Castrodale, Maria, Amanda Franz, Biannca Guinty, Tiffany Steinlachner, Shelly Booth, Nora Arevalo, Sophie Fragen, Jennifer Hanson, Kiara A, Natalie Valencia, Clint Colbert, Emily Delney, Devin Richardson, Raquel, Kenny Booth, and Erin Shen.

This year's awards will feature “Winter Holidays...Palm Springs Style” with special emphasis on nature. Almost 300 hand painted banners are displayed throughout Palm Springs each year.

An awards ceremony, with special guest Mayor Steve Pougnet, will be held downtown on December 3, 2009. Prizes and certificates will be awarded. Info: 760-333-6820
