On Oct. 26, the Desert Foundation for Democracy mounted a major event in Palm Springs. Our honored guests for the evening included U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer, one of the most powerful senators in Washington, Congressman Xavier Becerra, an eight-term Congressman who is one of the highest ranking members of the current Congressional Democratic Caucus, Assemblyman V. Manuel Pérez, 80th Assembly District representing much of this region, Richard Milanovich, chairman of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, mayors Steve Pougnet and Eduardo Garcia and several people running for state elected office.
The Desert Sun was given several advance press releases regarding the upcoming event. They did, however, cover the “tea party” activities of a few angry folks in town and, of course, the golf cart parade.
