Friends of the Rancho Mirage Public Library will host a free jazz concert today.
The Jazz Lite Octette will perform from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the community room at the library, 71-100 Highway 111.
The concert will have special emphasis on the “cool West Coast jazz” that was made popular by music giants like Dave Pell, Bob Florence, Dave Wolpe, and others in the 1950s.
Jazz Lite Octette, which was originally formed in 1993, has had many members of the years. It is currently led by drummer Karen Federoff, who brings her unique style to the easy-listening ensemble.
