I have read several letters supporting government-supported insurance. They state that the government has been successful in operating all programs. My take on this is: The United States has not won a war since 1945 (the Gulf War was won by the military then lost by the politicians), the war on drugs has been lost, the war on poverty is also lost.

Medicare has been filled with fraud and Social Security is bankrupt.

The money given to financial institutions has not been tracked and has not helped the housing market, which was destroyed by the government passing legislation to provide loans to people who could not afford the payments.

So you people who support the public option for health insurance, where are the successful government- run programs?
