Police arrested a juvenile this afternoon on suspicion of firing rounds in a Desert Hot Springs neighborhood.
The shots were fired at about 3:30 p.m. in the area of West Drive and Pierson Boulevard, Police Chief Patrick Williams said.
The suspect was with a group of high school students who gathered in the area for a fight.
“We’re not sure why the guy fired the gun, but we know the fight precipitated the shooting,” Williams said.
Police searched the area and arrested the suspect in the area of Ironwood Drive and Via Real following a foot pursuit.
Williams did not have the name of the suspect and other details were not available.
