Halloween candy fuels AYSO action

On Halloween, the La Quinta American Youth Soccer Organization had a few tricks and treats to celebrate the holiday.

Several team parents passed out Halloween-themed snacks like candy apples and ghoulish cupcakes.

And U10 Tweetibird coach Randy Knowles spray-painted the hair of his 10 players.

“It's Halloween and this is a fun thing we can do with the kids,” Knowles said.

U10 Tweetibird player Cam Costa, 9, said she enjoyed getting her hair dyed.

“It is fun because you get all the attention from all the people,” the La Quinta girl said.

The youth soccer league has 1,773 players on 204 teams in the U8 to U14 divisions at the La Quinta Park, said Andrew Nielsen, AYSO Region 443 commissioner.
