A national rose conference and show will be held for the first time in the Coachella Valley.

The event will be the largest in history of the American Rose Society, said Sharon Moore of the Desert Rose Society of Palm Desert.

A new rose named for the valley, Coachella, will make its debut at the show and will be available in limited quantity.

The event is scheduled to run on Wednesday through Nov. 15. The show portion of the event will run from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Doral Desert Princess Resort in Cathedral City, 67-967 Vista Chino.

Admission is $10, which includes a Desert Rose Care Guide and a Coachella rose, while supplies last.
