The 2010 Miss Festival of Lights queen and court were chosen during its fifth annual pageant on Oct. 24.

Julia Peterson, 18, of Cathedral City was seated as queen.

“We're really hoping that Julie will go on to the Miss California International Pageant this year,” said Rachel Hanson, executive director of Parades of Palm Springs Inc.

The pageant took place at the Spa Resort Casino's hotel in Palm Springs and had six contestants.

Stephanie Salcedo, 19, of Indio was chosen as first princess of the pageant. April Nichols, 18, of Palm Springs was chosen as second princess.

Megan Hanson, 7, of Cathedral City was named Lil' Miss Festival of Lights.

Each member of the court is required to volunteer with local charities and make appearances during their reign.

The court will be featured in the 18th annual Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade on Dec. 5.
