New neighborhood organization to meet

Daniel Vaillancourt • Special to the Palm Springs Sun • November 6, 2009

The Vista Norte Neighborhood Organization, the latest of 23 neighborhood organizations in Palm Springs, will have its initial general meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday.

It will take place at Palm Springs Fire Station No. 3 (East Racquet Club Road and Via Miraleste).

All homes and businesses within the boundaries are eligible for membership in the new organization. Boundaries are Sunrise Way, Racquet Club Road, Avenida Caballeros and Vista Chino. Also included are several streets on the west side of Caballeros between Vista Chino and Via Escuela.

Lee Husfeldt, Palm Springs director of neighborhood and community relations; Ginny Foat, Palm Springs council member; and representatives of the Palm Springs Police Department who will serve as a liaison to the Vista Norte neighborhood are expected to attend.

Neighborhood organizations advocate for neighborhood interests and concerns and work with the city of Palm Springs on issues affecting quality of life such as crime, land use and public safety.

Each is represented on the Palm Springs Neighborhood Involvement Committee.

Neighborhood organizations do not function as homeowners' associations and do not create rules, regulations or covenants.
