Don't leave your dogs in a hot car

Readers • The Desert Sun • November 6, 2009

I was in the Westfield Palm Desert mall on Oct. 21. There were two dogs locked in a hot car. When I came back an hour later, they were still there and they weren't in good shape.

I called security and went out to check and the car was gone. People need to be aware of the dangers of leaving animals in the car at any temperature. I cannot believe what kind of individual would do this. I should have broken in and taken the dogs to a safe place.

Next time without hesitation I will call the police. Please keep your animals out of your cars. It takes only a short time for them to suffer from heatstroke or die.
