The Cathedral City High football team is looking to break out of its losing streak this week when it travels to Indio.
The Lions (1-7) lost to Palm Desert last week 49-19, but this week's match-up should be closer as the Rajahs have struggled as well this year, posting an identical 1-7 record.
Lions head coach Mitch Donnelly spoke with the Cathedral City Sun this week about his team.
Question: What happened last week against Palm Desert?
Answer: We didn't move the ball in the first half, we struggled, we had a lot of missed tackles, it was a combination of things. We had a hard time moving the ball against their front.
Do you think it'll be a better game this week against Indio?
Yeah, I think it's going to be a good game. I think we match up pretty evenly, and I'm looking forward to a good game.
It looks like the Rajahs got their top running back, Dominic Mata, back. Are you concerned about him?
He's solid, he's not bad. But basically it's going to come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes.
Have you got any injuries? How's your running back, Daniel Garcia?
He's not 100 percent by any means, but he's going to play. We've still got a lot of kids with the flu.
What are you working on in practice this week?
We're working on having a good tempo offensively, and just finishing the play or the block.
