The 14th Pride 5K run will not take place Sunday as planned.
Jim Junio, executive director of Desert Runners, the group that organized the run, said Friday that early sign-ups for the event were too low to warrant closing down a city street.
The group planned to close down a part of Palm Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs for the run, prior to the annual Pride Parade on Sunday.
Forty-six people signed up, instead of the 120 Junio hoped would participate, he said.
The Desert Runners and others who want to join in will participate in a free run at Ruth Hardy Park instead.
It will begin at 7 a.m. Sunday. The park is located at 700 Tamarisk Street at Avenida Caballeros, in Palm Springs.
