A recent lecture sponsored by the Architecture and Design Council of the Palm Springs Art Museum could have been ho hum, but instead it was ho wow!
The Annenberg Theater was nearly filled with guests eager to see and hear noted San Francisco architect Jim Jennings, known to be an interesting and charismatic speaker.
His talk was mesmerizing as he showed slides from his 20 years of architectural designs.
Treat No. 2 came when Jennings and much of his audience adjourned to the beautiful, tasteful, and high-tech Las Palmas area home just recently completed by Joe Ambrose.
Ambrose designed, built, and landscaped both the interior and exterior, capturing light, warmth and charm at every turn — and now he lives there.
Guests speculated that a wand and pixie dust may have been involved, as everything, including a perfect 60-plant rose garden, was magical and blended perfectly.
Among the guests honored with this first showing were Dr. Eric and Sidney Williams, Steven and Carol Nash, Katherine Hough, Lydia Kramer, Bill Butler, lecture Chair, Donald Wexler, legendary architect, Jim Isermann, artist, Beverlee and Stanley Morse, sponsors, Ed Kazlauskas and Ron Iehl.
The interests of the museum's design council extend beyond architecture to pottery, glass and other creative talents. Their early November lecture was on Italian Glass.
