Seventy-three artists filled the streets of Old Town La Quinta on Saturday for Art Under the Umbrellas.

That is the largest number of artists at the art festival since it started in the 1990s, La Quinta Arts Foundation Executive Director Christi Salamone said.

“The foundation has a great reputation for mentoring artists and providing them a place to sell,” she said.

San Diego painter Helen Hawes said she keeps coming back for the nice venue.

“The show is put together well,” she said.

Art Under the Umbrellas will be back from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 28, Jan. 16, Feb. 13, March 27 and April 10 in Old Town La Quinta.
