I was one of the officials who, regrettably, had to disqualify Raychelle Santos of La Quinta High School from the DVL Girls Golf Championship.

I was highly impressed by the integrity and respect she showed for herself, her opponents, and the rules of her sport. The Desert Valley League should be proud of the valor displayed by this young golfer.

She could have gotten away with submitting an incorrect scorecard and being declared league champion. But, her coach and family have obviously taught her the values that have made her an individual of distinction and she reported her own mistake.
