Cielo Vista Elementary School in Palm Springs will become the Coachella Valley’s newest charter school, the Palm Springs Unified School District board of education decided unanimously Tuesday evening.

The petition was approved for two years - through June 30, 2012 – provided that evidence of all funding sources is presented and that “Intent to Enroll” forms for at least 700 students are signed by parents.

"Obviously we're very excited," Principal Lynda Lake said between hugs from celebrating teachers and parents. "It's been a lot of hard work that we've put into this."
