With the shadows settling over PGA West, Mark Wilson drained a 10-foot birdie putt at the 18th hole to win the Humana Challenge by two strokes late Sunday afternoon.
Robert Garrigus, who had bogeyed No. 17 to fall out of a tie for the lead with his playing partner, had a chance to finish second alone. But Garrigus missed a 9-footer for birdie that would have separated him from John Mallinger and Johnson Wagner, who won the Sony Open in Hawaii last week.
The victory was the fifth of Wilson’s career.
Wilson closed with a 69 and didn’t make a birdie until the 11th hole. He played his final eight holes in 4 under to clinch the victory.
