PALM SPRINGS — Palm Springs police arrested a teenage boy Wednesday in an arson case — two weeks after he was accused in a separate fire at Palm Springs High School.
The arrest stems from a fire in the 2900 block of Chuperosa Road that started about 1:20 p.m. Sunday.
It began in a shed on the north side of the empty home, which was listed for sale, Sgt. Mike Kovaleff said Wednesday.
The blaze spread into the house and damaged a wall and small bathroom.
After two days of investigation, police arrested the 14-year-old boy, who police did not identify because of his age.
Officials did not say when he was arrested.
The teen was arrested two weeks ago after a separate fire at the high school.
During that incident, the teen set a pair of shoes and a trash can on fire, Kovaleff said.
No one was hurt in either fire.
Investigators did not release additional details Wednesday, including what led investigators to the boy or whether he had been charged in the school fire.
Police asked anyone with information in the fires to call investigators at (760) 323-8116.
Anonymous tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867.
