In response to Gov. Jerry Brown's AB109 prison realignment law, a special multiagency task force based out of Palm Springs is targeting about 100 high-risk probationers and parolees in the Coachella Valley on Wednesday. Under the law, known as AB109, non-violent offenders are sent to county jails rather than state prisons. After they are released, they are supervised by local probation officers instead of state parole agents.
