Thursday's event was the latest in a series of efforts aimed at getting desert residents to sign up for the government-mandated insurance amid questions about the sweeping and divisive law. Some events have drawn dozens; others have been quiet. As of Jan. 31, about 59,000 people in the Inland Empire had enrolled in ACA insurance plans through Covered California. That was up 49 percent from the month before, according to the state exchange.
