Apparently still smarting from the offseason decision by the Philadelphia Eagles to trade him to Atlanta for a seventh-round pick, Falcons cornerback Asante Samuel lobbed a veiled jab at Eagles head coach Andy Reid on Twitter Tuesday morning.
While Samuel didn't mention Reid or the Eagles by name, the subject of his tweets, which posted right after news broke that Philadelphia had fired defensive coordinator Juan Castillo, was obvious.
Clearly the "ain't no decline over here" line refers to comments Reid made justifying the trade over the summer, in which he said Samuel was "in steep decline."
Samuel took issue with the assessment in a conversation with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in July,
"We'll see who's in steep decline," he said, noting the Falcons-Eagles matchup on October 28th before adding, "We'll see who's in steep decline then."
Clearly it's a date that Samuel, who has one interception for a touchdown this season for the undefeated Falcons, still has circled on his calendar. We're still not sure what "point the figure" means though.
